I had an '09 Road King and recently bought a '12 Street Glide. The ride and the handling is so much smoother and the bigger motor pulls alot harder. I would highly recommend buying a FLHX. Hope this helps.

I

think the Street Glide is a fine bike, especially with the 103 engine. With a newer they also have the improved frame, iso drive, 6 gallon tank and six speed. That goes for all the touring models this year. I have an 06 Road glide and love the handling and comfort of it. It is a matter of taste as to which style you like. I would suggest you decide what type of riding you want to do, touring, short day trips, around town, commuting etc. That should help you decide on a model. Then rent the one you think you want for a weekend so you can live with it rather than a test ride around the block.

Or you can do what I did and go to the dealer and see which one calls to you. Sometimes you just know.

A test ride is absolutely in order. The StreetGlide is an outstanding bike, but as has already been mentioned it's good to look at everything including the RoadGlide. The 103 motor is great and from my research known to be reliable. Personally at the time of the 1000 mile service I would also have a full stage 1 kit installed which will make that 103 feel and sound like a dream.

I'm not pushing the RoadGlide, but after not liking it and purchasing a RoadKing, I can tell you with certainty my next bike will be the RoadGlide. After driving one a friend of mine has, I would personally rate it as the best highway bike Harley has in the lineup. Of course none of that matters if you aren't riding the highway often.

Good luck with your purchase. I have a 2010 RoadKing and can tell you the new frame, fat rear tire, cruise control, and anti-lock breaks make my riding a dream.

My advice is never buy a motorcycle without a test ride first.

Specifications that look good on paper and have pleasing aesthetics don't always translate to a good ride.

Hi guys, if you can get past the stationary cowing on the front, I think you would enjoy the road glide much better ride wise.  I didn't like them for a long time but my next purchase will definately be a road glide...the 103 motor is very smooth.
