STAR 483 Chapter out of Bangor, Maine is planning a charity ride to help first generation college students at the Upward Bound program at the University of Maine. The 1st Annual Biking for Books Charity Ride is set for May 21-22, starting in Portland, then visiting the 7 UM campuses, all the way up to Ft.... Kent for the night. On the 22nd, we head back down to Orono to meet with Upward Bound students!See More

Saturday Ride to Schoodic
Happy Easter !
It will be another beautiful day today. I hope you are able to share it with friends and family.
Yesterday, about 6 people joined up for a group ride from Brewer to Schoodic. We took off from the North Brewer Shopping Center at about 10:30 am. While waiting there, the owner of the Citgo station approached us and I told him about the new STAR chapter and the chairity work that STAR does, etc... and he then came out with our first chapter donation and…

What are your Favorite Rides in and around Maine and from Maine to elsewhere?
I am trying to learn as much as I can about great rides in the state of Maine and rides that start here and go elsewhere. Do you have a favorite ride? Nice roads? Scenery? Great Places to Eat? Let's Start a giant thread of ride and route information for all of us to share and enjoy as the weather gets better.

The STAR Bangor, ME #483's first meet and greet went great! We had over 20 folks join us at Friend and Friend to learn about STAR and the new chapter, including 3 members of the Portland, ME STAR #150 chapter who came up to support their new sister chapter and to share what it is like to be in a STAR chapter. The Fun, The Family, The Good Times!
I've got people now who want to be officers in the group and help keep riders safe. Thank you all for your help in getting the word…

Was your group planning a ride to Vermont, if so what is your timeline?
Where in the Vermont are you planning on ending up?
As mentioned earlier, there are several nice routes between Maine and Vermont.
Route 2 all the way is a nice ride.
Route 302 is very scenic.
And my favorite is Route 16 through Rangely, Wilson Mills, and Errol NH
Very rural and good chance for seeing Wildlife.
