Maybe I'm trying to recapture that old feeling?
Not really a blogger type, but I follow a dozen or so blogs about bikes and wrenching. I wanted to share this one because it evokes so many feelings. Riding a bicycle when I was young gave me such a feeling of freedom and adventure - even though I rarely left my own yard! Then came the mini-bike and the old Suzuki street bike that we drove back and forth from one end of our property to the other. - Yeah hes a pretty good guy, and he loves making stuff for bikes. At some point me and my brother are gonna make some t-bars internal wire for the bikes. My brother made a set a while back but he messed something up.
Right now he is building a jeep for his brother, its got a little diseal vw engine, and he made an adapter for a gm tranny/transfer fully boxed frame and its gonna have 4 link suspension, guy has some talent (and the machine tools).
I will snap some pics when we are done, he says about half a days worth of work.
I wish I had different fwds though, would make it easier and probably look better, but I think this will turn out ok.

- Hey, a week from today Im going to a friend of my brothers who has a small machine shop at his house and we are going to make me a set of extended fwd controls. Due to the style of forwards I have now, it wont be as easy as yours was, so we are goin to fab some parts up to make it work. We are also gonna make me a bushing for my shifter pivot to tighten that up, and at some point we are gonna make some new footpegs, I think Im just gonna knurl (sp) them.
I have only met him a couple of times and when I stopped over to look at what we are goin to do he ended up giving me a SE ignition module for a 96 up XL he had laying around. Still had a tag on it for $116, he said use it if it works. Unfortunately it dosent fit mine. Oh well.

- I no longer have the GZ250 I did like it but to tell you the truth I out grew it withing a month and it took me along time to find me second bike which is the Kawasaki 600 I have .....if things go good with the Harley on Monday I will be looking to sell this one

Waytootall said… - wanted to say thanks for the magazine. i read it cover to cover tonight. nice story on the vstrom. it was the 650, mine is the 1000, but always like to see positive and negative about it. we went for a ride after breakfast down to brunswick--tried to look up a friend/retired co-worker. guess i should have called first. brunswick is bigger than i thought. then proceeded on route 1 to bath, then wiscasset. then rachel eyed a $17.00 lobster roll on the pier. needless to say, i'm now out $17.00! what a beautiful day for a ride, otherwise!
