Nice ride to Gorham from Bangor yesterday, myself and two other trike Gold Wings. Trikes inspected at Reynolds ( Motor Trike conversions )all passed 100 %.
All,
Got a call from Ernie, the Sagadahoc County Director. He has postponed the bike show until Sunday 4/24/11 due to rain predicted on Saturday.
Just a reminder, this Saturday is the Sagadahoc UBM Annual Biker show in Topsham at the American Legion.
Welcome aboard, Jim. Yes you were brave out riding in 30 degree weather. And I know what it feels like when you have something behind you and their in your blind spot, They must not be bike riders. I'm looking foward too some good weather. Ive been out only once this year and it was a little cool. So anyway welcome to the trikes group.
Alan.
Last year, I waited until the snow was gone and it was warmer, but this year, had to get out. 30 degrees to start and I felt like the Pillsbury dough boy. I went down to Topsham (from Pittston) and used 295 because 201 is still a mess. As yall know, it is hard to miss the heave/pot holes on a trike. Anyway, as I was passing an on ramp on 295, I looked over and saw a car entering on the on ramp, so I changed lanes to the left lane. After passing the on ramp, I kept looking in my mirror for the car so I could change back to the right lane. For about 2 minutes I couldn't see him and with all the gear and full face helmet (it was really cold) I couldn't turn my head very far. I finally slowed dow and sure enough, he was in my blind spot all the time. Could have been a problem if I would have changed lanes. I think my First Gear heavy lined jacket as well as the full face helmet kept me from being able to turn my head enough to see the car.
Ride safe, be aware.
Alot of bikes out over the weekend. We coulden't get out.But we rode for a few hours yesterday,Only saw one other bike.Early yet.
