Did an oil and filter change yesterday. Used the standard oil and filter from Honda. How many people are using synthetic oils, and do you change weights as it gets colder.

I use Amsoil 20w-50 in my crankcase and Primary Chain Case.

I use Amsoil Severe Gear 75-90 in my Transmission.

Amsoil is synthetic.

I use 5 micron HD Oil Filter.

I use Dot 5 Synth for my Hydraulic Clutch - Helps prevent Clutch Mush in Extremely Hot congested traffic, like Bike Week at Laconia when it's 90+ and takes 45 minutes from Weirs Beach to Merideth HD.

No,I do not change weights for various times of year,

I have and oil cooler on my HD.

On my C-90, I always bouight a new Crush Washer for the drain plug. Cheap enough to seal and NOT damage threads from over tightening.

I use the full synthetic HD Screamin' Eagle Syn3 20W50 and HD filter in my Vrod.  I don't stop riding until snow gets here and am back on the road when they are dry; usually get the first ride in sometime in March.  I run that oil year round no matter the temp.

How many here work on their own ride? I do the basic stuff, lubricants, filter, plugs, brake pads, bulbs, anything that doesn't involve tearing the engine down.

If you do your own work, do you use a factory manual? or Haynes or Clymers. Of the last two which do you think is better.

Are there any women riders here that work on their own ride?

i do most of my own work including removing installing a motor ... i definitely need to get a clymers for my new ride :)
I use Mobil1 V-Twin 20/50 synthetic in the engine, Spectro 75/140 synthetic in the tranny, and HD Formula + in the primary. As far as doing my own work? About as much as Randy does, lights, lubes, brakes...
do my own...my bike is chain drive...have replaced chain and sprockets...i use you-tube alot for information....factory manual

About the same here...I don't do much engine work anymore and leave that to the pro's (which could be a whole new topic on its own...LOL).  I used to when I paid a few hundred dollars for a bike, but now when the bike purchases run in the tens of thousands, I prefer to let someone more knowledgeable do it.

If I can bolt it on, or off, then I do it and will chase electrical items to a point.

I do have the factory service manuals for mine, and could do the work if I had to.

Haynes and Clymer are both decent and in the past I always tried to have a copy of each per bike.  I guess I don't have a preferred one though.

I pretty much do everything but Engine Work.

I have the HD Service Manual for my Road King SE103
