I know that our riding season is almost over here in Maine, but I would like to share a part of the president’s report from my ABATE of Florida chapter’s (Black Creek) newsletter for November. I think it is very important for all riders to keep this in mind when out on the highways and byways.

“Hey y’all hope you have a great Halloween and don’t get tricked into thinking you are safe out there on the roads. You may think they see you but it is no treat to get ran over or have to crash because some *(&#$%@ ran you off the road you thought was rightfully yours. 2010 statistics were improved but it is only a false sense of security if you believe the cage driver has a handle on what they are doing behind the wheel. Look for the moving fingers on an object resting on the steering wheel or for the appendage hanging out of their ear. YOU are NOT the focus of their undivided attention, YOU are NOT the Semi they may yield to, YOU are NOT the friends in the car with them who have their attention, and YOU are NOT a part of their daydream. YOU are the INVISIBLE IMAGE that came out of no-where to ruin their day.”
