Event Description

On May 21, 2011 Maine will have it first 2nd National Armed Forces FreedomRide to honor and support the men and women of the Armed Forces past and present, veterans of war, POW/MIA and those who served defending our freedom.

Gathering –12:40 New Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt Vernon Rd, Augusta
Ceremonies begin at 1:00 and are estimated to last about 1-1 1/2 hrs, ceremonies will include Guest Speakers (TBA), Color Guard, Gun Salute, performance by Ancient Order of Hibernien's Bagpipes,and wreath laying

Overnight camping, Military Displays,50/50 raffle, Bike Show, Food, Live Music, Vendors , Scavenger Hunt.

Registration Fees - $25.00 Single Rider - $35 Rider with Passenger/ Includes Overnight Camping

Enter your bike in the bike show $10.00 for each bike - Buy 50/50 raffle tickets 1 for $1.00 - 6 for $5.00 - Enter Scavenger Hunt for $10.00

This is what I have at this time. I am currently looking for registration organizers for the following areas, Augusta, Milbridge, Rockland, and Wiscasset where they can hold registration and then meet up in Augusta with the main group. In order to do that, I need to find volunteers in selected areas to handle registration.

Comment by Downeast Thunder on October 29, 2010 at 3:17pm: Will try to make it, but that's a way out & much depends on what I have to ride at the time (being in the motorcycle business, I buy & sell all the time). Right now, the only machine I have available is a small 250cc dual purpose bike w/knobbies. Okay to ride short hops locally, but certainly not a highway cruiser. Another factor for me is the volume of business I might have that time of year. This time of year is better for me because now business has slowed down and I can get away from the shop.

Any idea where it will leave from etc.? I think its great that we will be honoring our military past and present!! people need to remember FREEDOM ISNT FREE!!!!

Also I am looking into the possiblity for an over night campground as well. Planning is still underway. When I have more information, I will update you.
